IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

The Maple Avenue Covid Taskforce met on October 31, 2020 to discuss the 40% increase in local area Covid cases,
and has continued to assess the situation over the past few weeks.

Out of a deep desire to love and care for the MAMily and our surrounding community,
we have decided that for the next few weeks we will remain worshipping together virtually only.
We will return to our practice of being together, always together, on Facebook Live on Sunday mornings at 10:30am.

The following is Maple Avenue Ministries' Reopening Plan,
but it is currently on hold until at least Sunday, November 29, 2020.

Big Announcement!

Beginning Sunday, October 18, 2020, we will return to our sanctuary for in-person, indoor worship. Our hope is to gather in a way that is filled with hospitality and care so that we may worship God together,
always together.

We are also committed to stream the services online indefinitely, and we’re developing further ways to engage digitally with the service, in fellowship and with Bible study. As the MAMily, we cling to the truth that we are together and that God is with us no matter our physical location.

Please read this summary of our guidelines for indoor worship that our Covid-response team, Consistory, church staff and pastors have put in place to ensure a hospitable, caring and safe environment for all who wish to participate in this way. For a more detailed look at our protocols and procedures, please see our full MAM Plan for Indoor Worship.

Guidelines for Indoor Worship

  • Worship Services: We will hold two services in the sanctuary on Sunday mornings at 9:00am and 11:00am. Each service will be about 45 minutes in length with limited congregational singing. Both services will be streamed on Facebook Live, and we are committed to stream services online indefinitely.

  • In-person Attendance Practice: We will be implementing a practice of randomly assigning individuals/households to a certain service each week- the service you’re assigned to will possibly change each week. The schedule will be communicated six weeks at a time and can be accessed here. In this way, we are able to regulate the capacity of the sanctuary, and to faithfully fulfill our hope of being together, always together while avoiding the unintentional creation of two separate worshipping bodies.

  • Entrance Screening: To ensure the safety and care for all those gathered in-person, we will be screening those entering the church building. This will involve answering a set of Covid screening questions and the taking of temperatures. We ask that anyone with a temperature above 100.4°F (as recommended by the CDC) to join us digitally.

  • Masks: As an act of hospitality and care for one another, masks will be required at all times when in the building and must cover both the mouth and nose.

  • Seating: Ushers will help seat quarantine groups (individuals/households who have consistently quarantined together) from front-to-back on the ends of every third pew. Quarantine groups over 6-8 people may be seated in one full pew. Ushers will also dismiss the congregation from back-to-front after the service. The balcony will be reserved for our sound and projection techs and their quarantine groups.

  • Building Use: Apart from the use of the bathrooms, the narthex and the sanctuary, the rest of the church building will be unavailable for use. This also means that coffee fellowship and the nursery will remain closed at this time.
