Maple Avenue Ministries has been a pillar of hope and ministry. Currently, Maple Avenue is a growing community since Pastor Winfred Burns II became our Pastor. Maple Avenue’s purpose extends beyond our walls to serve a diverse and growing community. We are doing this by living into our 3C Vision: Centered in Christ, Called to the Core City, and Committed to being a multiethnic, multigenerational community of reconciliation by developing mission-focused people who embrace a mission-focused community. From our MAM Supports Immigrants Team, which cares for a recently relocated family, to our 427 Club, which gives Seniors a dedicated place for community, to our growing Youth and Children’s Ministry, we are living the 3C’s.
Our church has a rich history, but our mission is firmly set on the future. We are being called to a time of greater growth and impact that requires us to upgrade our facilities to better serve our community and congregation. We believe our building is not merely a structure but a community center used for ministry and neighborhood engagement. The "God Things Are Happening at Maple Avenue" Capital Campaign seeks to raise $2.8 million over four years to transform our campus, enabling vital ministry and allowing us to fully realize our future mission. This campaign will be funded through the generous support of our current congregation, local community partners, and area businesses.
The campaign's initial and most critical focus is the comprehensive restoration and enhancement of the Sanctuary Side, which includes the main floor sanctuary, narthex, meeting space, balcony, and lower level. With your generous donation, we can achieve a total transformation by creating: Improved Accessibility and functionality. This includes adding accessible bathrooms, an elevator, more classrooms and greater capacity to serve as a Warming Center, along with more seating for community events.
This phase focuses on enhancing the campus's outdoor spaces to create a more inviting and functional gathering place for the entire community. Key improvements include expanding our green space, fully revitalizing the parking lot and basketball areas, and adding a covered area suitable for family events like birthday parties or outdoor Bible studies as well as refurbish the outdoor Clubhouse.
This phase of the campaign focuses on necessary improvements to the Office side of the building. This area houses office spaces rented to local non-profit organizations at favorable rates and include: Nursery Modernization, upgrading the Nursery to align with Safe Church Standards. Modernizing our Youth Group Area making updates to create a more functional and safer environment for Youth Ministry activities and improving building technology, safety and heating and cooling system to ensure year-round comfort and energy efficiency.
By upgrading this facility, we are not simply investing in a building; we are profoundly investing in the people we are called to serve and the expansive vision we are called to live. These facility upgrades will immediately and permanently allow us to better serve our congregation and the wider community. We sincerely thank everyone who faithfully supported our recent projects, including the boiler replacement, new windows, and the small kitchen renovation. Your past generosity provided a strong foundation upon which we are now building this monumental vision for the future.
